The J.C. Newman Yagua is a uniquely shaped cigar that is made using an age-old but rare rolling method. It was brought back by Lazaro Lopez, who is the general manager of Newan’s Puros de Estelí Nicaragua S.A, aka PENSA factory. The cigars are rolled using an under fermented (wet) wrapper. Once rolled, the cigars are wrapped and tightly bound by a leaf from the Yagua tree, aka Cuban Royal Palm. This rolling method was used by Lopez’s grandfather for his own private blend in Cuba many decades ago. This non-traditional process allows the cigars to develop their own unique shape and the wet leaf adds to the cigar’s strength and flavor profile. The J.C. Newman Yagua is available in singles and boxes. If you purchase the box, the cigars are wrapped in a bundle using the Yagua leaf prior to boxing.
